Alex N. and I have been friends from afar for several years and I’ve booked him on two elk hunts here in the USA as well as a big safari in Zambia. Alex also is an outfitter in the UK, but we had never met face to face.
We had talked about Sadie and I coming over to hunt some of the UK species several times and last November we did just that.
The trip from Las Vegas to London presented several issues such as non-arrival of our luggage in London. From that point on though it was a great trip.
Alex retrieved us from the Sofitel at Heathrow on day one and we were hunting for Chinese Water Deer that evening taking two beautiful bucks.
Next on the docket was Muntjac and we took a beautiful specimen with ease the next day.
We had some time left so Alex suggested we try for a Sika Deer with a friend of his Mark who would guide us.
This is an evening hunt for Sika, and we saw several the first night but not the right one. We came back the 2nd evening and did score a nice buck. The Sika responded nicely to the call.
All of this hunting is extremely interesting but not physically challenging. It’s just a great time with some good guys.
Overall, a hunt in the UK gives you some amazing totally free-range hunting for several species and can easily be tacked onto touring in the UK or the rest of Europe.
