I had always wanted to hunt Spain, but Africa kept calling me back and depleting my hunting dollars.

A couple of years ago I contacted a young man named Martin R. who was advertising on the Internet offering all the Spanish species. I contacted him and we made a good deal for some of the Spanish species and touring all to be handles by Martin.

Fast forward to a few weeks before the hunt was to take place I received word of Martin’s untimely death in Turkey. Now what?

To make a long story short Martin’s incredible wife was able to sort out a full refund of my deposit. She gave the deposit to Dani H. who holds the leases for the areas we were going to hunt with Martin.

With lots of WhatsApp messaging between Dani and I we planned to hunt in November of ’23 directly following our hunt in the UK.

I had no real history with Dani, but I felt confident all would turn out well. I was right and Spain became one of Sadie and I’s most favorite places. We took ibex male and female, mouflon and fallow deer all completely free range.

The accommodations were in rural Spain on the hunt with very comfy rooms and nice food. Spanish wine!!!

Dani, his wife Paola, and assistant guide Jose could not have been nicer and more cooperative. They were 100% committed to us being successful.

Everything from our pickup in Madrid before the hunt to drop off at our hotel in Madrid at hunts end went perfectly.

Following the hunt we spent two days in Madrid. I highly recommend anyone hunting Spain to include some touristy time in Madrid. It’s a wonderful city with lots to see. It’s not expensive, speaking only English is not an issue and getting around is very simple as there are taxies everywhere.
