If you are looking for a Mark's Exclusive Adventure with a slightly higher-end plains game experience, offering an opportunity at excellent trophies, the prospect of real hunting, but a comfortable safari, we encourage you to consider Botswana.

Botswana, a southern Africa country, is the most stable in African and is a relatively rich one with a flourishing mining and tourist business. It has a small human population, living mostly in the far south of the country. This leaves huge areas of the country with little or no human impact.

Hunting has been very good in Botswana for many years. In the recent past, it has produced the majority of big ivory taken in Africa. Presently, it seems Botswana feels that ecotourism is the way forward and gradually the hunting is shutting down. The exception to this is the superb plains game hunting on private land, which is very much alive and well.

Mark's Exclusive Adventures works with an operator south of Maun, and offers what may be the best ranch hunting for kudu and cape eland in southern Africa. Additionally, the ranch supports quite a variety of self-sustaining species such as red hartebeest, gemsbok, blue wildebeest, zebra, waterbuck and others, but the kudu and eland are really special. A reasonable expectation, even on a short 7 day safari, should be for a kudu’s horn to measure well over 50 inches and possibly much bigger. They have taken up to an honest 65” bull in this area. A huge bull eland should also be part of the bag, as there are many and you’ll find groups of big bulls traveling together. The hunting in this area is great, but you will have to walk, particularly with the eland. The hunt will be an interesting tracking hunt, in which Bushman trackers are used. The skills of these trackers are amazing, and they must be seen in action to fully appreciate what they can do.

The main ranch is 100,000 acres, is fenced and has two camps. Each camp has only one hunter or hunting party in residence at any one time. The operator also has access to thousands of acres of adjacent open ranch land that holds some of the biggest kudu, plus other game.

The camp is of a very high standard. Air conditioned chalets are available if requested, and include king size beds and soak tubs. The service and food is excellent, you will want for nothing.
